“I want to dance. I want to dance in public. I want to dance in public with others. I want to dance in public with others, to music. But not at a concert. Rather, like when I’m walking home and a melody plays in my ears that makes my steps veer off course.”
There are no performers in our participatory dance performance. Or rather, everyone who is moving in the surrounding streets at that moment is a performer. There are participants, observers, and ordinary people dancing together to the same music streamed live. Our venue is Angyal Street in District IX, where, after a preliminary briefing and discussion, participants take over the surrounding streets and begin dancing together. The music plays only in our ears, coming from our own phones.
