From the history of the brick factories in Óbuda to the present day.
The DePART Company’s (Anna Szepes, Cat Jugravu, Dominik Jellen, Jonas Baur) sound installation If All Ears Could Hear is located on the site of the brick-drying sheds of the former brick factories on Bécsi út, where deported Jews and Roma were housed in 1944. During the walk leading up to the installation, we will explore part of the area where the brick factories on Bécsi út once stood; we will hear about the history of the brick factories, their social context, and their role during World War II, and we will also discuss the memory of the Porajmos, as well as contemporary approaches to and possibilities for commemorating it.
Tour guides: Bettina Pocsai, a Roma activist, and Péter Horvát, a historian.
Meeting point: at the corner of Bécsi út and Váradi utca, across from the Váradi utca stop where the trams intersect.
Participation fee: 1,000 HUF per person

Tickets can be purchased in person at the Budapest Gallery ticket office. (Open Tuesday–Sunday, 10:00–18:00)
